Community Involvement

Our Community Involvement

At Carlson & Work, we pride ourselves on helping Nevada families on their legal matters. Together, with our team, our community involvement extends across Northern NV. We participate and provide support at the following community organizations:

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern Nevada connects children with caring community mentors. Their mentorships are designed to create meaningful dialogue that empower youth and create a stronger Reno-Sparks community. Financial support helps the organization recruit volunteers, train professionals, and host social activities for the bigs and littles. We proudly support their cause.

The Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows creates safe spaces for kids to grow beyond the classroom. Kids learn life skills and leadership development at each of the 30+ locations across Northern Nevada. Donations help fund programs that directly benefit youth in our community. Carlson & Work is a proud supporter of the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows.

The Ronald McDonald House is a Northern Nevada charity created to keep families close when experiencing a medical emergency. RMH donors and volunteers bring families together in a home-away-from-home when their child is hospitalized due to illness, injury or premature birth. Carlson & Work is a proud sponsor and supporter of Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Our lawyers also serve on the boards of several community organizations and nonprofits.

Mathew Work, Carlson & Work’s managing partner and co-founder, services on the City of Reno Charter Committee. The Charter Committee was established to review the Reno City Charter in its entirety with a goal of providing for a more modern, effective and efficient City government. Additionally, Mr. Work serves on the board of Community Health Alliance, a federally qualified health center dedicated to quality, affordable and comprehensive health services in Truckee Meadows.

Partner Rebecca Carlson works with Washoe Legal Services, a non-profit organization that provides free legal services to vulnerable residents who cannot afford to hire an attorney. The organization’s pro bono services ensure the public has access to the legal system and are treated with respect and dignity. In her downtime, Mrs. Carlson joins a diverse group of dedicated men and women who volunteer their time, talent and energy to support Big Brothers Big Sisters by mentoring, supporting educational and outreach programs for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern Nevada.

Carlson & Work lawyers are also involved in several affinity groups and associations throughout the state, including Nevada Justice Association.
