I can't say enough about Kathleen Mangan and her team. Annulment vs. Divorce

An annulment is different from divorce. It effectively erases a marriage, treating it as if it never happened. These cases are brought for legal reasons that existed during the marriage, making it void or voidable. Common grounds for annulment may include:

  • Fraud or Misrepresentation: If one party entered the marriage under false pretenses or concealed important information, it may be grounds for annulment.
  • Bigamy: An annulment can be sought if one of the spouses was already legally married to someone else at the time of the marriage.
  • Lack of Consent:  If one party was coerced, threatened, or unable to give genuine consent at the time of the marriage, legally voiding the marriage may be appropriate.
  • Impotence: If one spouse is unable to engage in sexual intercourse and this fact was concealed before marriage, it may be grounds for annulment.
  • Underage Marriage: If one or both parties were underage at the time of the marriage without proper consent, means of invalidating the marriage may be pursued.
