KATHLEEN MANGAN, ESQ

Deep Roots in Northern Nevada

Kathleen Cooke Mangan comes from a four-generation Northern Nevada legal family. She was born and raised in Reno and remains deeply connected to the community she serves today.

She graduated from Wooster High School and earned the prestigious International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma. From an early age, she showed both academic discipline and a strong commitment to public service.

A Foundation in Education and Service

After high school, Kathleen attended Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. There, she strengthened her academic foundation and expanded her perspective beyond Nevada.

Following graduation, she joined Teach For America in New York City. During this time, she worked directly with students and families facing complex challenges. As a result, she developed skills that still shape her approach to family law today.

She later earned her Master’s degree from Pace University while continuing her work in education. Eventually, however, Kathleen returned home to Reno to teach in the community that helped shape her.

A Full Scholarship to Law School

Because of her academic achievements and commitment to service, Kathleen earned a full scholarship to the William S. Boyd School of Law at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

While attending law school, she continued teaching. This experience strengthened her ability to balance demanding responsibilities while staying focused on helping others succeed.

Strong Focus on Family Law

Today, Kathleen practices exclusively in family law. She represents clients across Northern Nevada in matters involving divorce, custody, and family stability.

Importantly, her work is shaped not only by legal training but also by personal experience. Having gone through her own public divorce and custody case, she understands the emotional and practical realities her clients face.

Because of this perspective, she approaches every case with empathy, clarity, and determination.

Supporting Families Through Difficult Transitions

Kathleen assists clients with a wide range of family law matters, including:

  • Contested and uncontested divorce
  • Mediation
  • Child custody and parenting plans
  • Child support
  • Temporary and extended protection orders
  • Adult and minor guardianship
  • Adoption

Above all, she is committed to protecting children and supporting families during periods of transition.

Compassionate Advocacy for Northern Nevada Families

Family law cases affect nearly every part of a person’s life. Therefore, Kathleen works closely with her clients to help them move forward with confidence and stability.

Her approach combines practical strategy with genuine compassion. As a result, clients feel supported not only legally, but personally as well.

Kathleen Cooke Mangan is proud to serve families throughout Reno and Northern Nevada when they need experienced guidance most.
